The Government of Yemen welcomed the final statement made by the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council at its forty-third session held yesterday in Riyadh on Yemeni affairs.
In a press statement, the Yemeni Foreign Ministry commended the Gulf Cooperation Council for its full support of the Presidential Governing Council and its support structures in enabling it to carry out its mission of bringing security and stability to Yemen, as well as its call to the Houthi militias to respond to the invitation of the Presidential Governing Council council to start negotiations under the supervision of the United Nations to arrive at a political solution in accordance with the three terms of reference.
The statement, which was broadcast by the official Yemeni news agency (Saba), expressed appreciation for the high appreciation by the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council of the commitment of the Yemeni government to the humanitarian truce declared by the United Nations, and called for international pressure on the militias to resume the humanitarian truce, lift the siege from the city of Taiz and open humanitarian checkpoints there.
The Ministry expressed its full appreciation for all the development, emergency and humanitarian assistance provided by the Gulf Cooperation Council, noting the confirmation by the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council of the importance of the participation of donor countries in providing economic, humanitarian assistance and development support to the Gulf countries. The Yemeni Foreign Ministry also welcomed the condemnation by the Supreme Council of the Arab States of the Gulf of two terror attacks by Houthi terrorist groups using drones on oil ports in the governorates of Hadhramawt and Shabwa, describing the two attacks as an escalation by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia after the end of the truce United Nations in Yemen, and also welcomes its condemnation of Iran’s continued interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Yemen, as well as the smuggling of military experts and weapons to the Houthi militia, in clear violation of Security Council resolutions 2216, 2231 and 2624.
In a statement, the Government of Yemen expressed appreciation for the position of the Gulf Cooperation Council for their support and solidarity with the Republic of Yemen and their interest in the unity, security, stability and territorial integrity of Yemen, as well as supporting efforts to bring peace to Yemen and the region.
