Today, Saturday, the National Health Committee said that 33,073 new cases of coronavirus were reported in China yesterday, of which: 3,988 were symptomatic and 29,085 were asymptomatic.
The day before, 34,980 new cases of infection were registered in China, of which: 4,278 with symptoms and 30,702 without symptoms.
Excluding imported infections, there were 32,827 new domestic cases in China, of which 3,933 were symptomatic and 28,894 were asymptomatic, compared with 34,772 the previous day.
No new deaths were reported, bringing the total death toll to 5,233.
The number of cases is falling as China eases restrictions in some cities, including testing requirements and quarantine rules, and is expected to announce easing of coronavirus quarantine protocols in the coming days.
And local government data showed 703 symptomatic cases and 2,610 asymptomatic cases in China’s capital, Beijing, compared to 942 symptomatic and 3,026 asymptomatic cases the day before.
In Shanghai, China’s financial hub, local health authorities were tracking 27 symptomatic and 264 asymptomatic cases, compared with 26 symptomatic and 209 asymptomatic cases the day before.
Local authorities said the southern city of Guangzhou, with a population of about 19 million, reported 826 new local symptomatic cases and 4,096 asymptomatic cases, compared with 654 symptomatic and 5,185 asymptomatic cases the day before.
Chongqing reported 205 symptomatic cases and 5,640 asymptomatic cases, compared with 189 symptomatic and 6,347 asymptomatic cases the day before, according to local government data.
