New Twitter owner Elon Musk announced today, Friday, that work will soon begin on new confirmation icons in different colors to distinguish verified accounts on the social network.
“Sorry for the delay, we are launching Verified on Friday next week,” the billionaire tweeted.
He explained: “The gold badge will be given to companies, the gray badge to governments and the blue badge to individuals (regardless of whether they were celebrities or not). them.”
“This is a painful (procedure) but necessary,” he added.
In another tweet, Musk explained that all individual verified accounts will be linked to the same blue badge, but some may later show “a small secondary symbol to indicate if they belong to an organization if that organization trusts them as such.”
The new documentation system that Musk wants to implement has been causing confusion and misunderstanding for weeks.
It intends to introduce an $8 monthly fee for users wishing to verify their accounts on the platform, in exchange for which they will receive the famous blue verification mark, which was free but limited to celebrity accounts.
