Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said at today’s meeting of the National Security Council that the national air defense forces were put on alert to prevent Russia from being “shot in the back”.
Lukashenko stressed that the Belarusian army does not participate in the conflicts in Ukraine and will not participate in the future.
And he added: “The Belarusian army did not and will not participate in hostilities. We can prove it to anyone. In addition, the Russian leadership has never raised this issue with us – the question of our participation in the armed conflict. Then we definitely do not think about participating in this special operation in Ukraine. There is no need.”
Lukashenko noted that some forces and media of the Belarusian army are deployed in the southerly direction, close to the border with Ukraine. “We are defending the state’s borders from Brest to Maziere with our forces to prevent radicals and weapons from entering the country,” he said.
