The Japanese national team surprised at the start of their campaign at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar by beating their German counterpart by two goals: one in a match that brought them together in the first round of the Group E competition today.
Japan’s goals came from Retsu Daun in the 75th minute and Asano Takuma in the 83rd minute, while Germany’s goal was scored by Gundogan Ilkay in the 33rd minute.
With this result, the Japanese team won the first three points of the tournament, while the German team was left without points.
The Japanese team will play their Costa Rican counterpart in the second match of the World Cup next Sunday at the Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium, while the German national team will face their Spanish counterpart at the Al Bayt Stadium the same day.
