During the sessions of the Saudi Green Initiative Forum, Dr. Ghulam spoke about the importance of the programs that the National Meteorological Center is working on, adding that the regional artificial rain program is making tangible progress and achieving promising results, as well as finding sustainable solutions. help mitigate the effects of drought and increase rainfall, and work to create natural resources. He explained that the Regional Center for Climate Change is working to present scenarios to understand climate issues, present a clear picture of their causes and impact on the region, and mobilize efforts to provide the necessary capacity to achieve the goals.
He said: Establishment of a regional sandstorm early warning center to counter dust and sand events and reduce their risks by launching a monitoring system for local and regional dust and sand events that affect lives and property. Study and special studies of the dust phenomenon and sandstorms to issue medium and long-term forecasts and reports. Supporting national plans for all sectors to combat dust phenomena, and conducting research and studies in search of sources of dust and fluctuations in these phenomena and their relationship to climate change to ensure the sustainability of vital resources and protect the environment from natural disasters.
