A court in the emirate of Abu Dhabi has ordered the citizen to pay about AED 3.3 million, equivalent to more than $989,000, local newspaper Al Khalij reported on Monday.
The daughter, whose identity was not disclosed by the newspaper, filed a lawsuit demanding that her father pay her 3,706,000 dirhams and legal interest of 12% of the due date. This woman explained that 16 years ago she made an agreement with her father that he would buy her land for housing, and then transfer ownership to her.
The daughter handed over to her father the amount of 800,000 dirhams, which she received as a gift from her ex-husband on the occasion of the birth of her first child. In her lawsuit, she confirmed that her father used the land for 16 years without transferring ownership in her name and that she was patient with him because he was her father, but found that he sold it in 2021 for 3 million. and 706 thousand dirhams without her knowledge. After the court ascertained the veracity of the daughter’s words, accompanied by the necessary evidence, he ordered her father to pay 3.3 million dirhams in addition to interest on the amount of five percent, as well as 50,000 dirhams as compensation for material and non-pecuniary damage caused claimant.
