Germany and Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has revealed that he previously suffered from skin cancer and had three successful facial surgeries.
Noir, 36, made the announcement in a press release and an Instagram video in which he announced the launch of a special skin care product, “Nyuki”, along with fellow tennis player Angelique Kerber, who has won three major titles.
The 2014 World Champion said: “We both have a very personal history when it comes to dermatology. Angelica has sun-induced hyperpigmentation and, in my case, skin cancer on her face, for which I have had three surgeries. “That’s why we’ve taken special care not to neglect anything to do with sun protection: I work out all the time outside and I also love to spend my free time in nature,” he continued.
Neuer is absent from Bayern Munich with a shoulder injury, but manager Julian Nagelsmann hinted that the goalkeeper could return to Hertha in the Berlin league on Saturday, less than three weeks before the start of the World Cup. Neuer’s last competitive match was a 2-2 draw against Borussia Dortmund and his absence did not affect Bayern as he won every match he played in all competitions (3 in the league and the same number in the Champions League) against Sweelin Ulreich as goalkeeper.
