Prior to the search of her Moscow suburban home and the arrest of her commercial director Kirill Sukhanov in a racketeering case, blogger and TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak, a former presidential candidate, left Russia.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrieleus Landsbergis said Sobchak entered his country with an Israeli passport, adding that the information he has been collecting since Wednesday evening indicates that “Sobchak crossed the border and presented a valid Israeli passport, which means that she has Israeli citizenship.” in the Russian media.
He also clarified that “these people have the right to cross the borders of the European Union, and they have the right, according to Lithuanian law, to cross the borders of Lithuania and stay in the territory of the European Union for up to 90 days.”
Surveillance cameras recorded the moment when Sobchak freely crossed the Belarusian border towards Lithuania, a member of the European Union.
11 million rubles
This came after Russian authorities arrested Sobchak commercial director Kirill Sukhanov on Wednesday in a case of extorting 11 million rubles from Rostec head Sergei Chemezov.
Meanwhile, Russian media reported that Sobchak herself became a suspect in the blackmail case.
And the well-known media Tina Kandelaki published a photo of Sobchak’s Israeli passport.
However, the Israeli embassy in Moscow declined to comment on these reports of Sobchak’s Israeli citizenship.
It should be noted that Sobchak, who ran in the 2018 presidential election from the Civil Initiative party, previously published a video in which she denies having Israeli citizenship.
