A senior Russian official warned that Moscow could react to Western sanctions over son attack on Ukraine opting out of the last the remaining nuclear arms pact and the western freeze assets.
Dmitry Medvedev, MP head of The Russian Security Council chaired by President Vladimir Putin shrugged its shoulders off a set of crippling sanctions imposed by the United States, the European Union and other allies on Russia as a reflection of Western “political impotence”.
In the comments posted on his page on Russian social media VKontakte, Medvedev said sanctions could give Moscow a pretext for a complete review of its links with the West, suggesting that Russia might opt out of the new START nuclear arms control treaty which limits US and Russian nuclear arsenals.
Medvedev also raised the prospect of cutting Diplomatic links with Western countries saying “there is no need in maintenance of diplomatic relations” and adding that “we can look at each other in binoculars and sights. He pointed to the possibility of freezing western assets in the country if the West proceeds with Russian freeze threats assets.
