Today, the Arab Parliament announced the re-election of Adel Abdul Rahman Al-Asumi as President of the Parliament for a new two-year term in accordance with the Parliament’s charter after receiving 51 votes.
This became known at a procedural meeting dedicated to the election of the speaker of the Arab Parliament, its four deputies and heads of committees, which took place today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in the presence of 66 deputies.
Shaalan al-Karim of the Iraqi parliament won the post of vice-speaker of the Arab parliament in the elections, which took place in the building of the Arab League.
It should be noted that the internal committee formed by the Arab Parliament will continue the election procedures, during which four vice-speakers of the parliament will be elected, as well as the heads of the relevant committees of the Arab parliament.
The Arab Parliament is due to hold its first plenary session on 4 October.
