Russian Ambassador to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov confirmed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will one day appear in court.
In response to a question from the Euractiv news reporter, he said: “Whether Zelensky would be killed in a Russian military operation: “I hope that doesn’t happen.”
“He’s going to appear in court at some point,” he added.
President Vladimir Putin announced at dawn on Thursday that a special military operation had been launched to protect Donbass, in southeastern Ukraine.
Putin stressed that Russia will work to disarm Ukraine, prevent nationalism in Ukraine and bring to justice the perpetrators of bloody crimes against civilians, including citizens of the Russian Federation.
The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that “the Russian army did not carry out missile, air or artillery attacks on Ukrainian cities” and that Russian forces hit military infrastructure, air defense facilities, military airfields and Ukrainian aviation with high-precision weapons.
He stressed that “civilians are not in danger”, “the Ukrainian border guards did not offer resistance, and the air defense systems of Ukraine were completely destroyed.”
