Omani TV reported today, Wednesday, that the Sultanate and the UAE have signed a cooperation agreement between Omani Railways and Etihad Rail to set up a joint company to implement and operate a railway network connecting Sohar port with the UAE national railway network, with an investment of around 1. 16 billion Omani rials ($3.01 billion).

— Emirates News Agency (@wamnews) September 28, 2022This comes as part of the signing of 16 agreements and memorandums of understanding between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates at Al Alam Palace as part of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s state visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
The agreements and MoUs included the signing of an Energy Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Energy and Minerals of the Sultanate of Oman and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates, which was signed in Omani by H.E. Engineer Salem bin Nasser Al Awfi, Minister Energy and Minerals, and from the UAE, His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazroui, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure.
