Fahd bin Nafel, president of Saudi club Al Hilal, said he had been in talks with Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, the Manchester United striker.
Fahd bin Nafel was asked: “Did Al-Hilal negotiate with Ronaldo?”, and he replied: “Yes, there was an opportunity for a deal.”
He added: “The problem was with the decision of the Sports Arbitration Center. We were optimistic that we would not be suspended, but we respect this decision.”
Al-Hilal club president expressed anger at the lack of documentation of the Saudi League championships.
Bin Nafel said in statements to the Socrates Podcast that the Saudi Federation is afraid to document tournaments.
He continued: “The championships have to be documented. It’s very important for the history of every club.”
