The White House is hosting the Jewish New Year for the first time, Jewish Insider reports.
The newspaper reported that the US President will lead the ceremony on September 30, indicating that this year’s Jewish New Year celebrations will take place from September 25 to 27.
Biden hosted these celebrations while he was former U.S. Vice President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017, at the vice president’s residence. At the time, he was the first vice president to do so.
Former President Bill Clinton was the first American president to hold a Hanukkah celebration dedicated to workers, and George W. Bush made it a public event for Jewish community leaders, a practice continued by Barack Obama and Donald Trump. And last year, the White House hosted a party to light up the Hanukkah menorah at the last minute, but the performances have remained virtual due to the Corona virus pandemic.
