Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz won the US Open, the first major title of his career, after beating Norway’s Kasper Ruud 4-6, 6-2, 6-7 (7/1), 3-6.
Alcaraz, ranked fourth in the world, became the youngest number one in history.
Previously, Australian Leighton Hewitt was the youngest player to reach number one in the world when he was 20 years and 9 months old.
