Russian President Vladimir Putin has revealed details about the destinations of ships that left the ports of Ukraine with a cargo of grain since the implementation of the “grain deal” concluded in Istanbul on July 22 last year.
“Out of 87 ships that left Ukrainian ports with grain, 32 remain in Turkey. I think this is absolutely normal, because Turkey, as a country that organizes this entire process, certainly has the right to do so,” Putin said during Meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation on Friday.
He continued: “Three ships were sent to South Africa, three more to Israel, seven to Egypt and 30 ships to the European Union, and only two went to the two poorest countries under the UN food programs, Yemen and Djibouti. is 60 thousand tons, or only 3% (of total exports).
In his remarks at the Eastern Economic Forum on Wednesday, Putin accused the West of not being fair enough in the Ukrainian grain deal, as much of the supply does not go to the poorest countries, as announced.
