The Supreme Organizing Committee of the Games in Saudi Arabia has announced the start of the phase of testing the performance of 23 games from 45 sports, which will last 25 days.
Trials began last Monday in preparation for the launch of Saudi Arabia’s biggest sporting event, as the Saudi Games are set to start from October 27 to November 7, 2022 AD in the Saudi capital Riyadh with more than 6,000 athletes competing to represent 200 clubs and compete in 45 Olympic sports.
For his part, His Highness Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, Vice President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Director of the Games, explained that the Saudi Games are the largest in the history of local sporting events and this is one of the initiatives taken wise leadership with the support of wise leadership – God bless him – in addition to follow-up, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the Games, the purpose of which is to identify talents and compete among athletes in the Kingdom with the participation of professional and amateur players from different regions and cities of the Kingdom, emphasizing the importance the progress of the schedule in its various stages under the supervision of the federations AND to give every opportunity to the participants and qualified people after the listening stage, so that the session reaches its lofty goals for which it was held, wishing success to all clubs and individuals participating in the course.
The first phase of the course was launched by enrolling athletes in sports that include performance tests in 23 sports: esports, padel, taekwondo, rowing (gallery), tennis, cycling (road racing), bowling, triathlon, karting, weightlifting , Wrestling, darts, badminton, skateboarding, Thai boxing, table tennis, billiards, chess, squash, paddleboarding, windsurfing, rock climbing and athletics.
It is worth noting that the Saudi Games are aimed at increasing the number of people involved in sports in the Kingdom and opening up a new generation of champions in sports. The course also aims to level up the Kingdom’s ability to organize major sporting events in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and in parallel with the unlimited support that the sports sector receives from sound governance.
The course aims to increase the popularity of various games in the Kingdom and create an ideal sports environment for competition between athletes in various sports, as huge financial prizes have been allocated, where the gold medal winner in any game receives one million rials, silver is 300,000 rials, and bronze – 100,000 rials.
