At least 24 people have died as a result of heavy rains over the past two days in the provinces of Balochistan and Sindh in southern Pakistan.
Munir Ahmad Kakar, director of administration for Kalat Abdullah district in Balochistan province, said in a statement today that 20 people drowned in torrential waters caused by heavy rains in the area, adding that relief teams managed to rescue about 200 people, including women. and children carried away by the stream.
On the other hand, 4 people died in Karachi, the capital of Sindh, in accidents caused by heavy rains, and relief teams managed to rescue 40 people trapped in flood waters.
For his part, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed his deep sorrow at the loss of life and property caused by rains, heavy rains and floods in Balochistan and Sindh provinces, and instructed the National Disaster Management Authority to intensify its efforts to help those who is affected.
