On Sunday, Egyptians woke up to news of the burning of the Imbaba church in Giza province, a disaster that left dozens dead and injured.
The story began with a short circuit that caused a spark in the temple’s central air conditioners, and soon the fire spread to the entire temple.
The Egyptian Ministry of the Interior said: “The security services were informed at around 9:00 am this Sunday, August 14 that a fire had broken out at the Abu Sefein church in the West Munira district of Giza. Two officers and 3 members of the civil protection force received wounds.
She added: “A forensic examination revealed that the fire in the air conditioner on the second floor of the church building, which includes a number of classrooms, was the result of a faulty electrical wiring, which resulted in the emission of thick amounts of smoke, which was the main cause of injuries and deaths. Currently, cooling work is underway inside the church building, measures have been taken.
According to two security sources, 35 people died and 45 were injured in a horrific fire that engulfed the Imbaba church.
Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population of Egypt, ordered emergency and medical assistance to be provided to those affected by the fire as soon as possible.
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, confirmed that 30 ambulances were sent to the scene of the fire, 55 people were taken to Imbaba General and Aguza hospitals, and the injured are being treated. as well as deaths.
He pointed to increased readiness in hospitals in the governorates of Giza and Cairo, highlighting the availability of all blood types and emergency medicines in all hospitals that received the wounded.
