The Chadian parties signed today in the capital of Qatar the “Doha Peace Agreement” with the participation of political and military movements in a comprehensive and sovereign national dialogue in Chad under the auspices of the State of Qatar, which was the culmination of the negotiations. it took place over the past five months with regional and international participation and was aimed at achieving comprehensive national reconciliation. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Transitional Government of Chad, Minister for Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Chadian Abroad Sherif Mohamed Zein, as well as representatives of the political and military movements of Chad and in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, as well as a number of foreign ministers and officials from several countries, representatives of the African Union and regional and international organizations.
The agreement represents the first step towards reconciliation in Chad and includes measures to restore confidence, peace, national harmony and security.
