The French embassy in the Central African Republic announced the arrest of four French soldiers accompanying a United Nations force officer at Bangui airport.
In a statement, the embassy said, “A bodyguard team of four French soldiers close to MINUSCA (United Nations Mission in Central African Republic) Chief of Staff, General Stephane Marchonnoir, was arrested at Bangui airport yesterday afternoon.
The leaflets accused French soldiers of trying to “assassinate” Central African Republic President Faustin Arcanj Touadera, accompanied by pictures of cars and weapons allegedly “confiscated” at the time of their arrest.
