Yesterday, an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman expressed his country’s “optimism” about the possibility of negotiating a renewal of an agreement on its nuclear program after the European Union presented a draft understanding between Tehran and Washington in the context of talks that were suspended for several months. .
“We remain optimistic that the path of negotiations will lead us to a logical and reasonable outcome,” spokesman Nasser Kanaani told his weekly press conference.
Despite significant progress being made in the talks, the talks were suspended in March last year, leaving Tehran and Washington at odds over which the parties concerned have so far been unable to bridge the gap.
And last week, European Union Foreign Minister Josep Borrell, who is coordinating the talks, said he had submitted a draft understanding to Tehran and Washington, urging them to accept it in order to avoid a “major crisis.”
He warned that in the event of a refusal, “we run the risk of facing a serious nuclear crisis.”
