A Baltimore family is suing a Sesame Street-themed theme park for $25 million over allegations of racial discrimination, alleging dressed-up characters ignored their five-year-old daughter during a meeting last month because she was black.
An American mother has posted a video of her little girl being racist by one of the characters of the famous American program Sesame Street. While the Sesame Street doll roamed the carnival procession interacting with the children, the doll chose to ignore the brown-skinned children despite their calls for her and their enthusiasm to meet her. The video went viral and sparked outrage even from prominent figures in the US, leading to the proliferation of previous videos of Sesame Street dolls committing racist acts and ignoring black children. The Sesame Street Program stated, “The Sesame Program is aware of the incident at the Sesame Site in Philadelphia, and what the children were exposed to there is unacceptable.”
The statement confirms that the administration of their Philadelphia center will conduct an “anti-racism” training course for workers, and promises that the center will take the necessary measures.
