The Israeli occupying authorities are resorting to all means to take over the homes of Palestinians in East Jerusalem, offering offers and temptations, some of which have been uncovered by Jerusalem resident Mazen Dweik, whose family has been persecuted by Israel since 2007.
Dweik said in a video posted on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, that he had received offers from Israeli settlers in an attempt to take over his home in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood of the city of Silwan, south of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. .
Dweik said during a video that aired on social media, “I’m a kidney patient and regularly on dialysis, and they offered me a kidney transplant in addition to one million dollars in exchange for evacuating the house.”
Al-Maqdisi added: “They suggested that we leave the house by a cunning ruse, secure travel abroad and facilitate that the house be obtained by force from the settlers and without the consent or consent of the owners of the house, so that our reputation among the people would not be tarnished.”
He also continued by saying, “Praise be to God our Lord, we were proven right and rejected all the temptations and pressures we were subjected to, including intimidation and threats.”
And the history of the Dweik family began with the Israeli occupation courts in 2007, when the Ateret Kohenim settler association said that the family’s house and dozens of houses in the neighborhood have been built on their land since 1967.
According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, during a court hearing last year, an Israeli magistrates’ court gave the green light to the family’s eviction from their home.
Since 2007, this family has sometimes been harassed by the Israeli occupation municipality and sometimes by the Ateret Cohanim association. This association of settlers has for years been pushing for the removal of Palestinian families from their homes in the Batn al-Hawa area.
Mazen Dweik said: “Since 2007, our journey began in the corridors of the occupation courts, between decisions and appeals, until the meeting of the Supreme Court on July 23, which adopted our appeal against the decision of the world court on our evacuation, and return the case for further consideration of the case” He added: “Since 1964, we have been living here in this house. Today, the house is five stories high and is home to five families of 28 people. Like other houses in Batn al-Hawa, it has been standing since before the occupation in 1967.”
Meanwhile, the Israeli Supreme Court recently accepted the Dweik family’s appeal and requested that the case be returned to the Magistrates’ Court for further consideration, which means freezing the decision to temporarily evacuate the family from their home until discussions are completed under Israeli occupation. courts.
Significantly, 84 Palestinian families, numbering over 700 people, in the Batn al-Hawa area are being threatened with eviction from their homes in favor of the Ateret Cohenim settlement consolidation to Judaize the entire area.
