Yesterday, Tunisian President Qais Syed unveiled the first decision since the constitutional referendum, which is to pass an electoral law that will “reshape the old elections.”
This came after a referendum on a new constitution was easily approved, albeit with a low turnout.
The opposition National Salvation Front in Tunisia announced its rejection of the results of the referendum on the constitution, calling on President Qais Sayed to step down.
The Independent High Electoral Body announced a participation rate of 27.54 percent, while the estimated results showed Yes won with over 92 percent.
The Salvation Front, which includes a coalition of five opposition parties, most notably the Islamic Renaissance Movement, political movements and independent activists, said it adheres to the 2014 constitution and considers President Qais Syed illegitimate.
He also questioned the results of the referendum and the credibility of the electoral commission.
