Iran’s Ministry of Security (Intelligence) announced the arrest of members of a network linked to the Israeli intelligence service (Mossad) who entered its territory through northern Iraq to conduct operations targeting “sensitive areas”, according to official media, today. , Saturday.
According to a ministry statement shared with IRNA, Iranian security forces have arrested “elements of a terrorist spy network linked to the Zionist intelligence service Mossad that were sent to the country to carry out terrorist operations and they were identified before they committed any sabotage.” operation”.
She added that they were “in touch with the Mossad through one of the neighboring countries and entered the country through Kurdistan” in northern Iraq before “everyone” was arrested.
The statement did not give details about the number of those arrested, their nationality, the date of the incident or the nature of the operations they were preparing to carry out.
However, he pointed out that they were “in the process of conducting major and unprecedented terrorist operations using modern and advanced equipment and the most powerful types of explosives and communications, aimed at vital and vulnerable areas predetermined within the country.”
The ministry confirmed that what was in their possession was seized, on the condition that more details about this network would be revealed “at a later date.”
Iran accuses Israel of being behind many of the attacks that have taken place on its soil, such as the sabotage of nuclear facilities or the assassination of a number of its prominent scientists in recent years.
