The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s welcome to the agreement to establish a truce in the sister Republic of Yemen and stressed the importance of opening humanitarian checkpoints in Taiz.
She commended the efforts of United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg to increase commitment to the current UN-sponsored truce, in line with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s March 2021 initiative to end the crisis in Yemen and achieve a comprehensive political solution.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the firm position of the Kingdom and support for everything that guarantees the security and stability of the Republic of Yemen and meets the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people.
She stressed that the truce is aimed primarily at achieving a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen and initiating a political process between the Yemeni government and the Houthis to pay civilian salaries.
