President of the Saudi Arabian Chess Federation Abdullah bin Salem Al-Wahshi announced the launch of the first Hail Chess Cup tournament from 1 to 2 July 2022 at the Prince Abdulaziz bin Musaed Sports City in Hail City.
The Hail Chess Cup organizing committee continues daily preparations for the tournament, which will be held according to the Swiss system, consisting of 9 rounds of the women’s championship and 9 rounds of the men’s championship, which will be held next Friday and Saturday. The federation announced that it will be organized in the calendar of events for the current year. This type of tournament aims to spread the sport of chess in cities and regions with the participation of male and female players from different countries in order to hone talents and improve technical level through meetings with experienced international level players.
The Marketing and Investment Committee of the Saudi Chess Federation has announced a number of partnerships and signing of sponsorship contracts for the tournament with many sponsors in various sponsorship categories.
It is noteworthy that the Hail Cup is an international ranking tournament that is held this year in connection with the preparation of the chess team for participation in the World Olympic Games in India in 2022, in which the first Saudi Arabian women’s team will take part, representing the Kingdom in the largest gathering of chess players in the world.
