An earthquake measuring 6 on the Richter scale hit the Bonin Islands, which are located in the extreme southeast of Japan’s main islands.
The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center said the quake struck at a depth of 40 kilometers on a group of remote islands, including Chichijima, one of the Bonin Islands, with no operational information on human or material losses as a result of the earthquake.
The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami warning.
