His Excellency the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member and Climate Envoy Mr. Adel bin Ahmed Al Jubeir led the Kingdom’s delegation to the Major Economies Energy and Climate Forum (MEF), which was convened and opened by His Excellency the President of the United States America by Joseph Biden. His Excellency opened the Kingdom’s video-assisted speech by thanking the President of the United States for hosting this important summit at a time when the world is facing the challenges of climate change.
His Excellency called for a cooperative and effective international response to be taken seriously, mobilizing all efforts to counter this, taking into account the special circumstances faced by the least developed countries, and supporting them in combating the negative effects of climate change policies without hindering their sustainable development.
His Excellency reviewed the Kingdom’s efforts and its local, international and regional initiatives to tackle climate issues and his Vision 2030 has captured these issues by making the environment and sustainable development one of its core objectives.
His Excellency highlighted the Kingdom’s continued interest and commitment to working with all international and regional partners to combat climate change and contribute to the global goals of creating a better environment for future generations.
