The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its strong and supportive stance regarding the protection of civilians and minorities in Myanmar, especially Rohingya Muslims. This issue is usually one of the most important issues to which it pays great attention.
In a speech delivered today before the Human Rights Council by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations in Geneva, Dr. Abdulaziz Al Wasel, he reiterated his call for the security of Rohingya Muslims and the recognition of their fundamental rights. including the right to full citizenship, and to the creation of conditions conducive to the voluntary, safe and dignified return of Rohingya refugees.
He called for non-violence and resolution of this crisis through dialogue and adherence to international recommendations to address the root causes of this crisis, and to do everything to find an urgent and lasting solution that guarantees the safety of the Rohingya. Muslims and other minorities.
Al-Wazel said: “It has been almost a decade since the persecution of ethnic and religious minorities, especially the Rohingya in Myanmar, where marginalization, systematic discrimination, poverty and long-standing persecution of the Rohingya in Rakhine State has led to massive and widespread violations, including their mass forcible displacement and their previous disappearances”. Forced arrest, displacement, violence, human trafficking and torture.
He stressed the need to address the root causes of the crisis in Rakhine State in order to achieve lasting peace, build a society based on the principles of equality and non-discrimination, strengthen local and international communities for interfaith dialogue and combat hate speech.
