The Board of the International Football Association has decided on the number of substitutions allowed during football matches.
And football leagues around the world have embraced the idea of using 5 substitutes during matches instead of 3 during the coronavirus pandemic.
The five-substitution rule in football will be finally approved, according to what the International Football Association Board (IFAB) announced on Monday from Doha, while “semi-automatic” intrusion detection technology has gone a long way towards its adoption in the next World Cup in Qatar.
Since then, five substitutions have continued to be used in major tournaments, with the exception of the English Championship where three substitutions are used.
But now the Board of the International Football Association has announced that “five substitutions” are mandatory in all football tournaments around the world.
The decision comes after the success of the idea of five substitutions, which gives teams more room to rest their players and use more reserves, which reduces fatigue and increases the number of players at peak fitness during matches.
FIFA added that experts will decide whether semi-automatic stealth technology will be accepted at the first World Cup in the Middle East, which begins on November 21. In turn, the head of the Italian judging committee, Pierluigi Collina, said that he was “confident” in using this technology at the World Championships in Qatar.
