Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salimadzic reaffirmed the German club’s stance on the departure of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, stressing that he cannot leave Bayern until his contract expires next year.
“I have clearly explained our position regarding the status of his contract,” Salihamdzic told German newspaper Bild, referring to a phone call he had with the “33-year-old” Polish player on Tuesday.
The fact that his story with the German club is coming to an end, Lewandowski said at the end of May during a press conference with the Polish national team.
According to some media reports, Barcelona will be willing to pay 32 million euros for the services of the best player in the world twice in a row (FIFA award).
But Bayern are sticking to their stance and insisting that Lewandowski fulfill his contract, which expires in June 2023.
This statement came the day after Lewandowski justified his desire to leave Bayern, as he was looking for additional passion in life.
In a podcast published Monday on Polish website Onet, Lewandowski answered whether he wants to leave the Bavarian club in search of extra money or more passion in life, naming a passion in life without hesitation.
Lewandowski has been defending the Bayern club since 2014, scoring 344 goals, and his current contract expires at the end of 2023, which means staying at Bayern for an extra season without renewing his contract will make him a free player next season and go to free.
