An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 hit southwest China’s Sichuan province today, the death toll is still unknown.
The China Seismic Network Center said the quake struck at 5:00 pm local time (9:00 GMT), was 17 kilometers deep, and had its epicenter in Lushan, a rural community.
The quake was felt in several cities in the province, including the provincial capital Chengdu, about 100 kilometers to the east.
