The number of unidentified flying objects in the skies has increased over the past twenty years, a senior US Department of Defense official told lawmakers at the first public meeting on the topic in half a century.
“Since the early 2000s, we have seen an increase in the number of unauthorized or unidentified aircraft or objects at military ranges, ranges, and designated airspaces,” Scott Bray, deputy director of the Office of Naval Intelligence, told the House Security Committee.
Bray attributed this to an increase in the U.S. military’s “destigmatization” efforts and technological advances.
However, the US representative noted that the Pentagon did not provide any details “that would indicate that objects are arriving from outside the Earth,” but did not rule out such a possibility. “We didn’t make any assumptions about what these objects represent or what they don’t represent,” he said.
And US intelligence indicated in a report released in June 2021 that there was no evidence of aliens in the sky, but admitted that it had no explanation for dozens of observed phenomena from military pilots. Some of these phenomena can be attributed to the presence of drones or birds interfering with the radar systems of the US military. The occurrence of these phenomena can also be associated with the testing of military equipment or technologies carried out by such large countries as Russia and China.
