The Cuban Ministry of Health announced that the death toll from an accidental explosion at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana rose to 31 on Sunday.
Earlier it was reported that the explosion killed 30 people.
There are still 24 wounded in hospitals.
Rescuers have been searching for bodies under the rubble of a building in Havana’s Old Town since Sunday morning.
According to the Ministry of Tourism on Saturday, the explosion appeared to be due to a gas leak while a truck was supplying the hotel, destroying four floors of a five-story building.
The hotel was undergoing renovations in preparation for its reopening on May 10, two years after it closed due to the Covid pandemic.
The building was built in 1880 to house shops, in 1933 it was converted into a hotel, and in 2005 into a luxury hotel.
