Today, Sunday, the press reported that Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson could play a role in keeping Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo on the team.
Ferguson recently spoke to Ronaldo about this, knowing that Cristiano spent 6 years playing under the Scottish manager at Old Trafford.
And the British newspaper The Mirror indicated that Ronaldo and Ferguson recently met for tea at their homes in Cheshire.
The newspaper added that the retired Scottish manager told his former player that he thought he should stay in Manchester to “protect his legacy”.
Doubts center on the possibility of Ronaldo staying at United after the team failed to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Other reports have indicated that the future of the Portuguese Red Devils star is now in the hands of new manager Eric Ten Hag, who will take over the task from next season.
Manchester United re-signed Ronaldo last summer and the Portuguese went on to score 24 goals in all competitions.
