At least six people have died as a result of flooding caused by torrential rains in Petropolis in southeastern Brazil. As announced by local authorities.
Regional Development Minister, Rogério Marinho, wrote on his Twitter page: “We are sorry for the six deaths in Petropolis (Rio de Janeiro). The city has suffered the consequences of heavy rains… Over the past four hours it has dropped more than 200mm, causing rivers to overflow. for.” in 52 places.
According to Claudio Castro, governor of the state of Rio de Janeiro, 120 rescuers are working to eliminate the consequences of the disaster, and 60 more have been sent to them.
Video clips released by local media and networking sites filled the city’s streets and squares with rainwater, showing the extent of the disaster and flooding caused by the heavy rain.
