His Excellency Minister of Education Yousef bin Abdullah Al Bunyan and His Excellency Deputy Minister of Sports Badr bin Abdulrahman Al Qadi opened today the fourth season of the school football league for boys and the first season of various sports games for girls, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education in Riyadh .
The inauguration ceremony reviewed the success of the last three editions of the Boys’ School Football League, the numbers and achievements achieved by the project, in addition to reviewing the success of the first edition of the Girls’ School Football League, was held recently, as the last three editions were held in 47 different cities, with more than 500,000 male and female players, more than 50,000 matches played, with about 35,000 teams, 2,000 referees, more than 25,000 employees, 13,000 men and women coaches were crowned and 1,200 champions.
His Excellency Bader Al-Qadi, Deputy Minister of Sports, said in a press statement: “Today we are pleased to launch the fourth edition of the school league with 500,000 students participating in various games, where football makes up 33% of these games. participants, while the remaining percentage will go to the rest of the games,” highlighting the commitment of the Ministry of Sports to partner with the Ministry of Education to show the talents that this great sporting event means to discover and display at an early age, from four to six years, which provides an opportunity for scholarships programs and national teams to discover talent in the coming period.
His Excellency added: “This project is an important contribution to Saudi sports through which we study talent and it is an important part of the national sports strategy based on three main areas: increasing the proportion of sports practice, identifying talent and improving the performance of athletes, and there is no doubt in that the school league forms the basis for these pillars.
Notably, the new school league season kicks off next Monday in boys’ football, volleyball and basketball in 47 cities and governorates across the Kingdom.
