An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale hit Iran on Saturday morning, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center said.
The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center indicated that the earthquake’s epicenter was in the southern region of Iran, at a depth of 8 km below the earth’s surface.
This is the second earthquake in Iran in two weeks.
On June 15, 3 earthquakes occurred near the Iranian island of Kish, which were felt by residents of different regions of the Persian Gulf.
Two quakes of magnitude 4.7 followed by a 5.3-degree shock off an island near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, according to the US Geological Survey.
Iran said there was no direct damage from the earthquakes, according to the Associated Press.
It is worth noting that Iran lies on major fault lines and experiences an average of one earthquake per day.
