Colorado Rapids took over LAFC after two misses.
An 87th-minute Jonathan Lewis strike and a Marc Anthony Kay header in injury time were Colorado’s best chances for an equalizer, but Sporting CP goaltender Tim Melia saved both to keep the win. Colorado has 15 points in 12 games.
“I felt like we probably didn’t test the defense enough today,” said Colorado captain Jack Price. “We had a lot of possession, but it doesn’t mean anything when you don’t score goals.”
Both teams finished the match with nine players. Auston Canes, the Colorado player and Lucas Estevez were sent off in the final minutes. Kansas City’s Saloi and Andrew Fontas were also sent off along with Estevez in stoppage time in the second half.
“We had to be methodical in building our capabilities and working hard on the ball,” Frazier said. “It’s just a lot of mistakes. I don’t even know how to evaluate or talk about management. But we definitely didn’t lose the game because of the management… We didn’t play well enough. “I’m just glad no one was seriously hurt.
