The Provisional Schedule for the 2024 Formula One World Championship Season
The F1 World Championship Organizing Committee today announced the provisional schedule for the 2024 Formula One World Championship season. The season will consist of 24 races, beginning with the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 2 and ending with the Emirates Prize on December 8. It is worth noting that the final race could coincide with the start of the holy month of Ramadan next year.
Changes to the Schedule
There have been some changes to the schedule. The Las Vegas Grand Prix will be held on November 18th, the Japanese Grand Prix is scheduled for April, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix will take place in September, and the Qatar Grand Prix will be held from October to December.
Making F1 Racing More Sustainable and Accessible
Mohammed bin Sulayem, President of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), confirmed that these changes are part of the federation’s ambition to make the global F1 racing scene more sustainable and more accessible to race organizers and participating teams. The traditional summer break in August will also be extended to three weeks, providing drivers with an additional three-week break from September to October.
Return of Formula 1 Racing to Jeddah
HRH Prince Khaled bin Sultan Al Abdullah Al Faisal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Motor Sports Federation and Saudi Motorsports, expressed his excitement for the return of Formula 1 racing to the Jeddah circuit. The Saudi Arabian Formula 1 Grand Prix will take place from 7 to 9 March. Prince Khaled highlighted the Jeddah Corniche as one of the toughest circuits on the Formula 1 calendar, known for its outstanding racing, excitement, and enthusiasm. The organizers aim to provide an integrated program of events suitable for all family members during race days.
He further added, “All three, inside and out of the race track, look forward to welcoming the Formula 1 teams, drivers, and the public back to Jeddah for the 2024 Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.”
A New Weekend Format in Jeddah
Notably, the fourth round of the Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will take place in a new weekend format. This change is part of the announcement of the provisional schedule for the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship season. Jeddah will once again host the second race of the season, with the championship wide open. Fans can anticipate an exciting race under floodlights on the picturesque shores of the Red Sea.
