The Asian Football Confederation is moving towards postponing the 2023 Asian Cup to 2024, according to press reports.
The Asian Confederation has yet to announce the venue for the tournament as Qatar, Indonesia, South Korea and Australia have submitted bids to host the tournament.
According to Kooora, the Confederation is preparing in the coming days to make a decision to postpone the tournament to 2024 instead of next year.
The report also indicated that the decision on a possible postponement is not final as all options are on the table to be explored by the AFC in consultation with the relevant International Football Association (FIFA) committees.
This issue, since it is one of the proposals, is being studied in the AFC committees in cooperation with FIFA.
The website states that Qatar’s bid is the closest to winning the Asian Championship, especially since it is the most equipped in terms of technical and logistical preparation, which allows it to make the tournament a success.
Our national team has qualified for the 2023 Asian Cup after topping the fourth group of the Asian Dual Qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup.
