Two Armenian Americans men who attack people at a Turkish restaurant in Beverly Hills was given a federal sentence on Monday prison.
William Stepanian, 23, of Glendale, received a five-year trouble while Harutyun Harry Chalikyan, 24, of Tujunga from Los Angeles was sentenced to 15 months in prison. They were also ordered to pay a total of $21,200 in restitution.
They pleaded guilty last year plot and commit hatred crime.
The evening of On November 4, 2020, a group of six to eight men taken to Café Istanbul restaurant located in beverly hills in the los angeles subway area, made pro-Armenia comments, destroyed property and physically attacked its employees. In the indictment, six charges have been brought against the accused Stepanyan and Chalikyan, who have been arrested on April 27.
According to the indictment, Stepanyan said in a phone message on November 4 that he planned to go “hunting for Turks” and met Shalikyan on the same day. It was also noted that one of the attackers who attacked the restaurant said, “We have come to kill you! We will do it kill you!”
The indictment states that Stepanyan, Shalikyan and other Armenian Americans then surrendered to the family-belonging restaurantwhere Stepanyan and Chalikyan broke into the restaurant and attacked the victims inside. The two suspects who were wearing masks during the attack reportedly threw chairs at victims while shouting derogatory insults about Turkish people.
Four of the five victims were of of Turkish origin, including one individual who lost the feeling in their legs and collapsed several times Due to injury, notes the indictment. the assault caused over $20,000 in damage and forced the restaurant temporarily shut down, causing thousands of dollars in Loss of income.
