The Kingdom will take part in the Fifth Islamic Solidarity Games “Konya 2022”, which will officially start next Tuesday in Konya, Turkey, with the participation of 54 Islamic countries and will last until August 18.
The Kingdom is represented by over 130 male and female players in women’s 3×3 basketball, darts, gymnastics, athletics, fencing, football, handball, judo, karate, shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, weightlifting, wrestling and swimming. , Paralympic.
Notably, the Kingdom held its first Islamic session in 2005 in the Al-Mukarrama area of Mecca and topped the overall ranking with 60 medals (24 gold, 17 silver and 19 bronze).
The cities of Pampang and Sumatra in Indonesia then hosted the third tournament of 2013, in which the Kingdom placed seventh in the overall ranking of the tournament with 16 medals (7 gold, three silver and 6 bronze).
The fourth session was organized in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, in 2017, where the Kingdom placed eleventh overall with 11 medals (4 gold, one silver and 6 bronze).
The Islamic Solidarity Games were supposed to take place last year but were postponed due to a conflict with the date of the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
